For years, advice for diabetics has centred around taking drugs. But what if there was a safe way of controlling your symptoms,
and in some cases even eradicating them – without taking drugs at all? In DIABETES? NO THANKS! Lars-Erik Litsfeldt lifts the lid on the hidden story that the pharmaceutical industry doesn't want you to know – how a natural and evolutionary low carbohydrate, high fat diet can, in fact, alleviate all the symptoms of diabetes and help sufferers defy the dreaded “natural course of events”.

Diabetes? No Thanks The Scandinavian Diet Book 1 eBook LarsErik Litsfeldt

This book offers much information, perhaps most disturbing are the references to which companies have backed the current research and understanding of the current medical treatments for diabetes. If it is true that genetics and then lifestyle triggers diabetes, it makes sense to "undo" these sensitivities by avoiding the trigger. With three macronutrients of protein, carbs and fats, logic says if you minimize one category, to avoid triggering pancreas overload and high blood glucose, you must make up calories elsewhere. I would like to better understand scholarly studies supporting cholesterol fat connection and heart health. My nearly 90 yr old father has always tested high for cholesterol but has zero heart or high blood pressure issues, zero. He also doesn't avoid salt, much to his now dead peers chagrin. I don't want to toss western medical know how out with the bath water, but my observations and this book make me wonder.

Diabetes? No Thanks The Scandinavian Diet Book 1 eBook LarsErik Litsfeldt Reviews

I am diabetic. this information will probably save my life! I just wish there was a help for me to stick with it.
I downloaded this book last night after hearing about it on the diabetes.co.uk website. I am a recently diagnosed Type II diabetic who was lucky enough to have a diet almost identical to the one recommended in this book by my endocrinologist. Subsequently I've managed to keep my blood sugar on average around 6.2 mmol/l and dropping.

The book is concise and to the point, and in general I enjoyed the writing style. It corroborated my own experience with the dietary change of having a LCHF (low carb high fat) diet, namely that is certainly helps diabetics; this is admittedly still an area of controversy scientifically, although it has been known and reported since the 19th century. The book is good to not do what many diet books do - which is suggest universal application of their diet. The author is very clear to point out that the diet is a) for diabetics, and b) not a weight loss approach. I have found this to certainly be the truth and appreciate that the book explores the therapeutic nature of ceasing to consume carbs rather than some sort of fad "sell a lot of books" sensationalism.

Diabetes is a disease for life, and the book deals with that effectively. The recommended recipes at the end are truly helpful; something often not addressed by other books is that LCHF diets are often boring and hard to cook for. The author addresses this head on, and I appreciate this. Again, there is no effort to paint this as a panacea or some sort of answer for everyone - it's for diabetics only, and he cites that most famous of enemies of carbohydrate consumption for diabetics Bernstein.

SO... a great book with good recipes, decent science, and a focus on therapeutic diet for diabetics. A well written and quick and concise read. So why not 5 stars? Unfortunately the author becomes incensed at the hypocrisy of the medical and nutritional establishment in the final quarter of the book, particularly in their own country Sweden. The book up until that point had been excellent - unfortunately I was really angry to have paid for the book when a quarter of it serves as a treatise and record of the Author's battles with their enemies in the pharmaceutical industry and the nutritional industry. This was not necessary and unfortunate; it denigrates the overall message of the book by making the Author seem like a crank, which besides the conspiracy theory that the diabetic industry is simply interested in making you dependent on drugs and insulin, they do not seem.

I agree with, and have personally experienced the short term benefits of LCHF diet in managing my diabetes personally. I agree with the Author's frustration with the continued suggestion of a relatively high carb, low fat diet, being recommended to diabetics, and the fact that isn't working for many diabetics, esp. T2. But the way to answer this is with science and trials; such studies are being performed and up to date physicians and scientists are beginning to come around to the fact that older dietary interventions for diabetes, recommended before the use of insulin, can be very beneficial. In my own country South Africa, a prominent sports scientist Tim Noakes (author of the law of running, and for decades an advocate of carbo loading for athletes) has caused a major discussion in medical circles around carbohydrate addiction in SOME people.

If the diet is healthy and safe for diabetics, in the long term, science will gather sufficient evidence to prove this to such an extent that it can form part of public health policy. In the interim books such as this can leave the ranting and raving for web forums and rather focus on what is well explained in this book the science and nature of the therapeutic effects of a LCHF diet in diabetics.
excellent
Interesting book, don't agree with everything he says, but still thoughtful and well written.
great book for diabetics
This is in agreement with the most evidence-based medicine there is! Diabetics rejoice! No absurd recommendations anymore. You'll be healthy & trim.
Just got done reading the eBook Diabetes? No Thanks!

I found this book very informative and I agree with what the author is proposing. What he went through is exactly what I ran into with my doctor in the US. I heard about this book from a friend of mine who lives in Sweden who has had amazing results over the past year following this eating plan and also lifting weights.

Doctors seem like they want to push pills instead of curing the problem. Being a Type 2 diabetic I have had significant weight gain the past 5 years after going on medication. I started eating like what is suggested in the book and I do feel much better the past couple of days.

I will continue with this and also do the exercise program he talks about and write an update in a month and let you know how it is going for me.
